The much anticipated Sony Alpha 500’s specifications are published in a german website, http://www.digitalkamera.de/Kamera/Sony/Alpha_500.aspx. In my opinion, the specifications are very similar to the existing Sony Alpha 700 and this would be a great upgrade for those who were looking at the A700 before, i.e. people with the A100, A200 or the A300. This is especially so for those who have been frustrated with the seemingly “poor” performance of the mentioned DLSRs at high ISOs.

Seems to me that Sony is basically just repackaging the A700 and hopefully pricing it much lower. The german website has it priced about 30% less than the A700 (I think).

Hopefully it has top LCD.
This is an interesting comparison... I'd love to see what you think of the A500 when you see it "in person" ... Peter Burian just did a field test review with both the A500 and the A550 ... it seemed that the A500 came out on tops for him
Hi Ian,
Just FYI, Peter Burian just published one of the first full field test reviews of the A500 and A550. Very positive.
